OVERVIEW
From a natural disaster to long lasting legacy
The year 1883 is a reminder of nature’s awesome, destructive power. But the story of Krakatoa isn’t just about an eruption; it’s about what comes after. It’s a story of rebirth. From the volcanic ash, new life emerges, more vibrant than before. This is the essence of 1883 Krakatoa Reborn, a spirit that captures this very paradox. It’s a liquid narrative of renewal, inspired by the untamed forces that shape our world and the beautiful resilience that follows.
As the packaging designer, my goal was to translate this powerful story of rebirth into a tangible object of beauty. The design rejects modern minimalism in favor of a rich, narrative-driven aesthetic. The dark, textured label represents the volcanic ash, a canvas from which golden, wing-like flourishes erupt, symbolizing the glorious, fiery plume and the life that is reborn from it.
The custom typography and the authentic wax seal were crafted to feel like a declaration, a seal of quality from a bygone era of discovery. The result is a bottle that feels both ancient and alive, a vessel that tells the story of a world-changing event and the beautiful renewal that followed.
